I woke up early this morning, having slept like I used to on Christmas Eve. The sun, as seen on tv, is rising over Washington, DC, not here yet. We've got a lovely crescent moon in the brightening eastern sky.
I'll be spending the day with friends. We're preparing a potluck brunch and will watch the festivities. I contributed my little bit of service yesterday.
Much has been said about leaving the sixties behind. For those of us who were there, today closes one circle, and we can only rejoice. I was moved far more than I expected by Sunday's concert, particularly Pete Seeger's broad smile as he led us all in singing "This Land Is Your Land."
So no political comments for me today, beyond saying that Barack Hussein Obama looks like he's got what it takes and I'm looking forward to his presidency.
