That's what I've been wanting to caption this photo.
I filled the feeders this afternoon in anticipation of possible show showers tonight. Do you know how quickly fingers freeze when it's twenty degrees and windy? Quicker than I can fill the feeders. As I was putting up the suet bricks, a flock of bushtits came by to assess progress. They just about came up to the feeder while I was holding it. This photo is from a week or so ago, but that's pretty close to what it looked like as I walked away.
As soon as I was inside, the Eurasian collared dove reappeared. She hasn't been back since the last set of photos of her. As before, there was a white-winged dove there too.
As one of last week's storms was coming in, we had a colored sunrise. Usually our sunrises are fairly plain, and it's the sunsets that are highly colored.
I've been wondering why the birdfeeder freezes with a sort of lump of ice just north of the rock I put in to hold the light plastic down when the water evaporates. I suspect it's got to do with the way the rock affects the heat conduction.
Finally, Mr. and Mrs. Flicker, who arrived shortly after the bushtits.
