Just a short note to urge you to watch the morning sky, particularly while it is still dark.
I woke up at about 5:30 this morning and looked toward the east. There was a glowing gold light. It was brighter than I recall Venus, so I watched it for a while (it didn't move) and then got my binoculars. There was Venus's crescent. I confirmed its identity with sky charts.
Our sunrises have been colorful lately, and this morning's is no exception, so that explains the gold color.
My surprise is explained by the fact that I haven't much looked at the eastern sky in the mornings, and we've had clouds. Twenty minutes later, when I looked again, Venus had disappeared behind clouds.
