My previous link to the LA Times's great obit for Rupert Pole got so many hits, I thought I'd put this in a (more-lasting) post rather than the evanescent WhirledView Choice.
The LA Times has a story (12/31/06: Unfortunately this link has rotted, but you might want to try the LA Times archives, to which it now goes, if you don't mind paying. The article was dated 7 September 2006) today about the house that we've seen in a few black and white photos, designed by Rupert's half-brother, Eric Lloyd Wright. The article gives us seven photos of the house and swimming pool, the yard and pool now looking overgrown.
I've been wondering where Silver Lake is. My sense was that it's a suburb of Los Angeles, and a couple of the photos seem to bear that out with views into the smog. Google Earth tells me it's just a little south of Lake Tahoe. My highway atlas doesn't even list it. Wikipedia confirms that it's just east of Hollywood, consistent with those smoggy views.
