Why don’t we see something like these in the US instead of those flat Jersey barriers?

Why are people getting paid to receive honorary degrees?
Katy Couric is taking home $115,000 from the University of Oklahoma along with an honorary degree, Spike Lee $25,000 from Kean University without.
Some good guys are George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Christiane Amanpour, and Stephen Colbert. They’re all receiving honorary degrees without being paid for it. (12 MayChronicle of Higher Education; subscription only.)
Is Karl Rove a political genius?
His client’s popularity is around 30%, far below the 51% he aims for. The attempt at a constitutional amendment against gay marriage failed, to the jeers of "the base." Rove himself may be indicted.
How is it possible to believe that Joseph Wilson’s trip to Niger was a junket given to him by his wife?
I once had a job that involved travel to places like Detroit and the industrial sections of Cincinnati and Los Angeles, along with a number of military bases. I acquired a lot of frequent-flyer miles, but those trips were hardly junkets. It seems to me that Wilson’s trip to Niger must have been like that. The first mention I’ve seen in the MSM of the idea that this might not have been a junket was by Dan Froomkin.
Why do campaign reply envelopes ask us to put stamps on them?
A friend whose opinion I respected told me several years back that business reply envelopes are charged to the recipient by the Postal Service whether or not there are stamps on them. But I keep getting requests for contributions that ask me to put stamps on them. Was my friend wrong? Do the campaigns not understand this? Do they feel that this small gesture helps to cement loyalty?
