I was a bit distressed when Mark tagged me with this, because I had about 300 posts in mind, some of them (like the explosives theft ones) urgent. But it’s fun and a way to get away from that harsh, rapid-fire newsworld, along with my houseplants. And I’ve still got about 300 posts in mind, some even partially written.
So here’s my 7 x 7:
1. Seven things to do before I die
Become fluent in Estonian (Saan ladus eesti keelt. Või saama? Saamaks? Keeles? That’s the kind of thing I need to learn.)
Get my French back
Have another cat
Roll in the snow after sauna
Have another vegetable garden
Spend time on Lake Baikal in all four seasons (one down, three to go!)
Complete a particular project on which I have procrastinated far, far too long. The project will remain unnamed because I don’t want to embarrass my collaborators.
2. Seven things I cannot do
Maintain a snit for more than two days
Write anything without walking around
Pass up a pretty rock on the path or shell on the beach
Not buy cds of local music when I travel
Suffer fools gladly
Close the shade on the airplane window
Gripe about what I cannot do
3. Seven things that attract me to Santa Fe
The European streets
Train whistles
The Lensic Theater
Beautiful mountains
My great bloggable yard
Coyotes singing in the night
The big, big, blue, blue sky and its clouds
4. Seven things I say most often
Nice (in several tones)
So?
And…?
Um.
Okay.
And what does this do for the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty?
Take care.
5. Seven books (or series) that I love
The Magus
Daniel Martin
Parzival, by Wolfram of Eschenbach
Kalevala
Descartes’ Error
T.S. Eliot’s Collected Poetry
The Diary of Anais Nin
6. Seven movies I watch over and over again (or would if I had time)
The Matrix
One Touch of Venus
Three Days of the Condor
War of the Worlds (George Pal version)
The French Lieutenant’s Woman
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
The Sound of Music
7. Seven people I want to join in, too
Jamie
Condoleezza Rice (you may put them in the comments)
John Bolton (ditto)
Phila Check
Doug Roberts
Helmut
