Tuesday Equinox Blogging

by CKR

Happy Equinox!

P3200022_edited1It just happens that I live in a place where the sun rises at a notch in the mountains at the equinox. This morning there was a light haze. I'm not sure if it was moisture or just juniper pollen, which has been unusually profuse this year. I suspect a conjunction of moisture and pollen - the pollen provides nucleation sites for the moisture, so a bit of a haze.

I saw the first lizard and squirrel of spring the other day. I'm concerned about the lizards, but I'm concerned about the roadrunner, too. There were some workmen here for four days, running a power saw near where I usually put her suet. Obviously she didn't come around. I hear cooing in the mornings, though, so maybe she's just found better eats elsewhere. That's why I'm concerned about the lizards.

Although we had lots of snow this winter, it's been dry for a while now. They're predicting possible showers for late in the week. That's what we need for my backyard wildflowers. The apricot trees and forsythia are starting to bloom.
